Walk. Eat. Sail. – a bushwalk & sailing adventure near Sydney

Combining a guided bush walk, great food and a relaxing afternoon sailing, this is a day out that has it all.

This experience was created for those of us who enjoy a bit of everything – nature, walking, eating and being on the water.

The day begins with a short stroll through a local conservation project – once a pig farm, the area is now a sanctuary for rare and threatened plants as well as 30 different species of eucalyptus trees which were planted by volunteers as future koala food. Koalas were see about 18 years ago and work is underway by scientists to plan for their return. Wallabies and large goannas are seen here on a regular basis and if we are lucky we might spot one.

We will then ascend a fire trail that winds up gently past a striking sandstone rock wall with an overhanging cave. About half way up you can look back for terrific views of Broken Bay. Once we reach the top we are rewarded for the effort of the climb, with a panorama stretching east and west along the Hawkesbury. This would have to be one of the most scenic spots around. We will stop here for a short break and photos before descending a rocky path to the beachside holiday village of Patonga.  Here, we will celebrate our walk with a cold beverage and shared entrees at the Boathouse Patonga, a local favourite.

Following on you will board a 38ft yacht and sail to a secluded cove for a delicious grazing platter. Afterwards, the choice is yours – choose to explore deeper into the Hawkesbury, over to Pittwater, or simply enjoy relaxing and swimming off the yacht before sailing back to Hardy’s Bay.

Note: Possible wet landing (feet in water) into tender to reach yacht depending on tides.

Perfect for groups of friends or families, this experience can be done shared or private. Please note that availability is limited so book ahead to avoid disappointment.
